AN action-packed course in leadership is on offer to young people in South East Cornwall. The Rotary Youth Leadership Award is a residential week on Dartmoor packed with outdoor sports and team building activities, emergency first aid and crisis training, and skills coaching with a range of experts. Organisers say young adults, aged 18 to 28, who have completed the course have come away confident that they can run a meeting, speak in public, motivate others – and even save a life if they had to. The course is being offered by the Liskeard and Looe Rotary Club. Candidates who are accepted will be sponsored either by their employer, or by the Rotary Club, or both. Rotarians say the programme has gained a local reputation as being an excellent opportunity for a business to improve their employees’ skill set and performance. Anyone interested in putting themselves forward for this year’s award, which starts on July 4, should contact Rotarian David Crocker by May 21 for an informal chat, either by email to david@cloak park.co.uk or by phone on 01579 342708.
