After last week's 6-1 victory over St. Cleer Saltash were hoping to get something from this game, but came away without any points.

With Saltash kicking off, they pressed forward with good interchanging in midfield but Tamarside stopped this and counter attacked. The next five minutes were to see both teams trying to gain superiority.

Tamarside became the more aggressive side later in the period and Saltash had trouble coming to terms with this. Saltash's defence was solid but at times made unforced errors.

But as the half went on Saltash became more confident and started to play some excellent football. They also began to cope with the aggressive play from Tamarside. With the defence holding firm this allowed the Saltash midfield to win more of the ball and set up the attackers with some opportunities. Instrumental in this was the central midfield player Tom Chambers. With Lee Crook and Luke Kelly up front there was always a chance of a goal and on a number of occasions they came close only to be thwarted by the goalkeeper or hurried defending.

In the 25th minute Tamarside took the lead. It was unlucky on Saltash as at this time they were the better side. But their heads did not drop and shortly before half-time they had their best chance. The ball was once again won in midfield where it was played to Andrew Kevern who drove in a low cross from the right but Lee Crook was denied by the 'keeper.

Saltash came out for the second half with a totally different attitude. The half time team talk from coach Colin Kowalski seemed to have worked.

After five minutes of consistent pressure Saltash were level. Breaking down a Tamarside attack Tom Chambers played the ball through to Crook, who after controlling the ball played it around the keeper and shot on goal, the ball was stopped on the line and fell to Luke Kelly who coolly slotted the ball home.

Saltash were now playing some good football but couldn't convert pressure into goals. After 15 minutes Tamarside scored again when an attacker unleashed a powerful shot which goalkeeper Barry Horn was unable to stop.

Saltash kept plugging away but a shot from a Tamarside forward seemed to be going past the left hand post but on bouncing spun the other way leaving the keeper no chance for a third goal. Saltash battled to the end but this just was not enough on the day.
