Pensilva entertained Tamar Valley Thistles in a bottom of the table DJM U-13 Hermes clash on Saturday and ran out 2-1 winners despite starting with just 10 players for the third match in succession.

Pensilva dominated for much of the first half but failed to capitalise on a number of chances. The home side's perseverance paid off though and a fine goal by Adam Hutchings saw Pensilva take a 1-0 half-time lead.

The first 10 minutes of the second half was a different story with Pensilva looking decidedly shaky. It took a goal by Mitch McMillan to steady the home side until the dying minutes when the Tavistock side converted a penalty to set up a tense end to the game. However the Pensilva back four of Matt Tamblin, Tom Moore, Dylan Devaney and McMillan held their nerve until the final whistle.

Phil Shrubshall received the Man of the Match award from the opposing manager with the home manager's award going to Ollie Webber for a workmanlike performance in the Pensilva goal.

St Cleer Under 14's entertained Prince Rock in the DJM Glanville and picked up a very hard-earned three points.

Without playing anyway near their best, they created two early opportunities. The first, a fine cross from Steven Tapper, saw Craig Hamson's shot go wide when well-placed and then Craig Walton did similar after a fine move involving Hamson and Martyn Hake.

St Cleer however soon got on the score sheet when Hamson squared a fine ball for Hake to beat his marker and the goalkeeper.

The second goal soon followed when Hake returned the compliment and Hamson scored St Cleer's second.

Prince Rock battled well and pulled a goal back before Hake got his second from an excellent cross by Tapper. Prince Rock scored a second when St Cleer defenders failed to react to a cross and the loose ball was forced home to leave Prince Rock trailing 3-2 at half-time.

Prince Rock started the second half the better side and their forward hit a shot which hit both posts before St Cleer managed to clear the ball. Soon after, Daniel Ball hit the post for St Cleer, then Robin Brown made a good save to keep the score at 3-2, but was beaten soon after when Prince Rock scrambled the ball home after residency in the St Cleer defence.

This equaliser forced St Cleer to attack and Harrison failed on two occasions, before he netted his second and St Cleer's fourth. Hake completed his hat-trick when he won the ball on the halfway line and raced away to beat the oncoming 'keeper.

Just before the final whistle Harrison turned sharply to hit a left foot shot into the cop corner for his hat-trick and St Cleer's sixth. Hake also missed a good opening right on the whistle.

This was not a particularly good performance by St Cleer, but they did score same excellent goals to earn the three points towards safety.

This week they entertain Woodford Colts at 12.30pm.
