Pensilva Youth U-15 travelled to a Saltash United Juniors side that they had already beaten them in U-15 Defiance when they knocked them out of the cup.

Picking themselves up after two consecutive defeats, Pensilva started well and got a goal in the first two minutes. Good build up play resulted in Luke Noel-Johnson crossing for Alex Martin to volley home.

The second soon came, a scramble in the box falling to Doug Lloyd who blasted the ball past the defenders on the line for his first Pensilva goal this season.

Coming out from the half time break leading 2-1, Pensilva were looking shaky but all nerves were settled when Mike Ruark twisted and turned defenders inside out before hitting the ball into the goal.

After dominating the remainder of the game Alex Lindsay shot from inside the area getting flicked on (or bouncing off!) super sub Matt Morten and past the goalie for Matt's first ever club goal.

Another solid performance from the Pensilva defence of James Martin, Chris Shrubshore, Paul Caers and Mark Long.

This Saturday Pensilva are away to highfliers Torpoint, players meet 11.45 at the cross.

Pensilva Youth entertained AFC Plympton and a thrilling 3-3 U-16 Rodney encounter was enjoyed by all.

The visitors started brightly and netted the opener after just two minutes, taking advantage of a defensive mix up. The home side took time to settle but eventually they started to play some neat and attractive football. The equaliser came when the ball found Anthony Chapman unmarked the box, and he finished with a clever flick with the outside of his right foot.

Plympton rallied again and started to take control of the game and despite some resolute defending, from 'Spud' Pocock and Dan Sharp, the visitors scored with a good strike from just inside the area. Plympton kept up the momentum and netted a third shortly after and took a 3-1 half time.

The second half saw a much improved performance from the home side and they began to carve holes in the visitor's defence. It was during this attacking spell that Phil Lucas drove against the upright and shortly after blazed over the bar from six yards. A stroke of tactical genius by the management saw 'Spud Pocock' pushed into a striker's role and the move paid dividends. When a poor clearance fell to him on the 18 yard line he coolly fired home into the far corner of the net. This inspired the 'Pens' to up the pace of the game as they pushed on in search of a deserved equaliser. The centre midfield pairing of Joel Key and Gerry Richards were at the heart of everything for Pensilva and with barely a minute remaining a great through ball to Richards saw him shake off his defender and blast the ball past the despairing keeper to level the score at 3-3.

The final whistle blew to end a great match and a point a piece was a fair outcome. The Pensilva management and players would like to thank DJ Transmissions for the sponsorship of the recently acquired training jackets.

Saints were away to Morley Rangers in U-12 Vanguard and were seeking revenge for a defeat suffered earlier in a cup match. Saints started well but lost Captain Jared Lynn within 15 minutes through injury, but were able to welcome the return of Jamie Gerry in defence after long injury lay off.

Saints open the scoring midway through the first half with a great through ball by midfield architect Guy Stroud to which Phil Benney latched on to with a defender snapping at his heels and the goalkeeper approaching Benney placed his shot brilliantly into the back of the net. Morley Rangers started to put some good moves together, but found the Saints were not going to give in with Darren Hall at his best in goal.

In the second half Saints started to look a bit jaded but a through ball by Matthew Borlase saw Lindsay go through but was brought down by the Morley keeper, and Lindsay brushed himself down to convert the penalty. There was no stopping this Saints side now with their best football being played down both wings. Morley conceded a free kick outside the box and Matthew Lindsay took the free-kick and Guy Stroud rose head and shoulders above everyone else to direct a powerful header into the net.

Saints were lucky with their fourth goal when Morley keeper had a shot covered when the ball dropped into the mud and Jack Podmore was quick to strike the ball home. 10 minutes before time Matt Lindsay scored his second with another lethal finish. This was the very best football Saints have played for a long time and it was only right that the whole squad were awarded man of the match for winning 5-0 and their first clean sheet at that. Well done. Guy Stroud as also Morley Rangers man of the match.
