U/15s Defience

Just rewards for a squad of players whose hard work and outstanding ability is matched by their superb attitude on and off the pitch a real credit to their parents and the town they represent. An exellent performance typical of many this season.

Looe's U/15's second victory over rivals Pensilva has secured the third championship in four years.

Looe's quick passing and running off the ball combined with good support play from midfield was to be the undoing of Pensilva as all six goals were as a result in this style, witj a front-line attack of Eddie Goodaire, Jacob Bellamy and Jamie Powell, Pensilva's defence were soon reeling.

The midfield of Jamie Medlen, Trevor Osbourne and Paul Collings dominated middle play. Daniel Goldsworthy, Andrew Keeble, Steven Gowing, Phillip

Godbolt and Patrick (Patters) Pollard dealt comfortably with the odd attack raised by Pensilva.

Substitutions in the second half brought into play John Duffy, Antony Harman and Michael Richard.

Looe's goalscorers were Jacob Bellamy (3), Eddie Goodaire (2) and Jamie Medlen.

U/14s Grenville

In the DJM Grenville Under 14's, St Cleer travelled to Manstow Jets expecting a very difficult game against a team unbeaten for three seasons, and so it was proven as Manstow scored twice in the first two minutes through Hannaford and Vine to completely demoralise the St Cleer team.

Further goals from Hannaford 2-0, Hay, Dickson and Vine left the half-time score at 7-0.

After a stern half-time talk by manager Brian Bunny, St Cleer improved and started to come into the game with some excellent spells of football, played with more determination.

However, Manstow took their total score to 11 after two goals apiece by Washman and Taylor. Craig Hamson after much pressure scored a very rare goal against Manstow, only their fifth in the league this season, to give St Cleer a little consolation.

Manstow, whose players come from all over Devon and Cornwall are a very strong and fast side, at this level, but St Cleer, whose players are all local boys, can be very proud of the achievements in a very tough league.

Craig Hamson won St Cleer's manager's Man of the Match, fully deserved for his non-stop battling up front, and Martyn Hake won Manstow's manager's Man of the Match for a similar performance in midfield.

This week St Cleer have no game.
