Pensilva Youth U-15 travelled to lower league opposition in the form of Prince Rock and were in for a surprise as they scraped a 3-2 win.

Pensilva, starting with 10 men found themselves 1-0 down in the opening stages and it took them until the end of the first half to equalise. A free kick from Alan Stidwell deflected onto the arm of a Prince Rock player and the referee pointed to spot. Mike Ruark stepped up and although his penalty was saved his reactions were fastest and he slid in the equaliser.

In the second half Prince Rock went in front again, and matters for Pensilva went from bad to worse when Lee Greenway was sent off.

Down to nine men and looking in trouble Pensilva battled on and it was Alex Martin who pulled it back with a superb lob.

Mark Long rounded things off when he took the ball round the goalkeeper and knocked it into the empty net. Credit should go to the 10 that showed up (including Lee Greenway) and special thanks to the defence for clinging on. They were Paul Caers, James Martin, Doug Lloyd and Alan Stidwell.

In DJM U-14 Grenville St Cleer travelled to Mayflower and on a bumpy pitch were beaten 6-2. Mayflower caught St Cleer cold and after 20 minutes were two-up. St Cleer offered little in the first half and were restricted to a couple of half chances. Mayflower led at the break 3-0.

The second half started much as the first with Mayflower adding a fxourth followed by an unfortunate og by Craig Hamson. However he soon made amends when he slotted home a loose ball. At 5-1 Daniel Ball hit the ball from a free kick before Martyn Hake added a second. Mayflower had the last word when they scored their sixth just before the final whistle.

Steven Tapper was the pick of St Cleer and won the manager's man of the match award after filling in for the unavailable Tom Clack at right back. From Mayflower Craig Hamson picked up the award. This weekend St Cleer have no match due to school commitments.

In U-15 Defiance Pensilva entertained Torpoint and lost 2-1.

Pens were unlucky seeing as they started with only 10 men. The match had a slow start with neither side managing to get on the score sheet in the first half. Playing down hill in the second half Pensilva took the lead when James Martin sent Lee Greenway clear to slot past the keeper.

Towards the end of the game Pensilva tired and numerous saves from goalkeeper Matt Morten kept them in the game. But the extra man was enough for Torpoint who equalised and then scored winner in the dying minutes of the game.

After the game Pensilva were disappointed but with 10 men they pulled out a fine performance.
