THE town of Saltash will be transformed into a true winter wonderland tomorrow (Saturday) complete with Santa, elves and even a sprinkling of snow!

The Christmas Festival has been jointly organised by the town council and traders.

With stalls, Santas on bikes and Christmas craft-making in the daytime, the fun continues into the evening with carol singing and bands, the lantern procession and the switching on of the lights. A window-dressing competition is also taking place.

Victoria Gardens at the top of Fore Street will be turned into a Winter Wonderland in the afternoon.

Tamar Sounds will provide music from the stage in Fore Street, with musicians from Livewire Youth Project also taking part.

In the early evening a procession will leave the Guildhall to go to Victoria Gardens for the switching on of the Christmas lights at 5.30pm, followed by the Civic Carol Service at 5.35pm. The lantern parade will follow at 7pm and at 7.30pm the Christmas Festival will finish on a high with a firework display over the town centre.

All proceeds from the festival are for the Children’s Hospice South West which has been chosen by mayor as his charity for the year.
