HEAVY rain and strong winds on Tuesday night caused disruption to road and rail services in South East Cornwall on Wednesday morning.
Flooding on the Looe Valley railway line forced services to be cancelled for a time and replaced by buses.
Police reported no major weather-related incidents, but at Morval near Looe a tree was brought down, blocking the road until it could be cleared, and in Dawes Lane, Looe, a section of road had to be closed after a length of wall became unstable due to the weather.
Cornwall Highways was dealing with the situation.
Water levels rose in local rivers, particularly the Lynher, where the Envionment Agency issued a flood warning for the area between Berriowbridge and Notter Bridge, but this was withdrawn at 2.33pm on Wednesday.
By 2.45pm measurement of the Lynher at Pillaton showed 1.36 metres of water, where the average range is between 0.22 and 0.80 metres.
High levels were also recorded on the River Tamar at Gunnislake where the depth of water reached 2.37 metres compared with an average of between 0.30 and 1.54.
The Pol at Polperro held 0.29 metres of water, well below the level of 0.79 where flooding becomes possible.
