PRESIDENT of Coad’s Green WI Linda Willan and the committee organised a festive surprise for members, which also demonstrated many of their skills.
Instead of the normal December meeting, president Linda Willan and the committee brought the meeting to members’ doors in the form of a Christmas bag. This came complete with handmade gift tag, which contained the County News, the membership booklet, a quiz, a crossword, a Christmas card, a chocolate novelty, delicious homemade biscuits, a handmade coin purse, complete with a coin, a beautifully painted bookmark and hand crafted notebook.
There was also a letter from Linda to keep everyone connected, as well as a potted plant to bring a bit of festive cheer.
The vice-president, Daphne Tucker, and secretary Pat Mallett, took on the roles of Santa’s elves by delivering the surprises, meeting up with and greeting members they had not seen for a while.
The committee has continued to look to the future by planning and booking guest speakers for 2021, as many speakers are more than happy to adapt to Zoom.
Committee member Alison Gribble wanted to flex her knitting needles again, and encourage others to do the same, by making scarves, gloves and hats to support street pastor Barbara Bennett, who addressed a meeting last year.
Barbara works in Plymouth and was delighted with the knitted items that were produced by members to support the homeless.
