It's great to hear that young Sam Downing has made a full recovery following his bike accident in Looe (Cornish Times, 30.12.05). Both myself and James Porter were shocked and amazed when we first noticed Sam. People were just slowing down in their cars, looking at him lying there not moving and then driving off. Only one man stopped and helped, I do not know his name. He called the emegency services while both James and myself tended to Sam. Many thanks for your help. I find it very hard that people could be so inhuman and just drive off. Maybe they were late for work. I must add that Sam was very brave that freezing cold morning. He was so calm, even though his head was hurting badly. The three of us only helped as much as we could, and thankfully that was just enough to save Sam. It does not take much to stop and help. I informed the company we work for that we would be late in due to the situation and all was fine. So simple!
