On reading your article headed 'Praise for Leisure Centre Staff,' in last weeks edition, I was annoyed to read that yet again a person desperately in need had to wait 25 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.

This is particularly disturbing when there is a 24 hour manned Ambulance Station only two minutes away with two emergency vehicles available during the main part of the day and one at night. Could the reason for this unacceptable response time be due to the fact that the Liskeard vehicles are more and more being used to cover a shortage in the mid Cornwall area, leaving only Saltash or Torpoint to cover the Caradon area?

That is when they are not being used in Plymouth, which also happens frequently.

Ask any of the staff at Liskeard and they will say that, nearly every shift, day or night, will end up down west! I find this unacceptable.

Why should our area lose out to top up another. Come on councillors, get on the case.

My condolences to Mr Vanstone's family.

A CONCERNED RESIDENT.
