As I returned to my car in the Millpool car park in Looe on Saturday, my four-year-old daughter begged me to take her to the park.
Since it was dry and far from getting dark, I said okay.
There was no one else in the park at the time. I glanced around to see a group of 12- or 13-year-old children walking past on the other side of the fence. Two boys and three girls, they stopped and sat outside the park.
I wasn't worried as I knew who the boys were.
Out of the blue, one of the girls picked up a large glass bottle from under a bench and threw it straight at the metal railings surrounding the park.
It smashed and the majority of the glass went all over the park floor.
She turned and they all simply walked away.
My first question is 'what on earth was the point?', then 'you want to be treated like adults?' and 'what irresponsible person left the glass bottle by the park in the first place?'
My four-year-old has more sense! She immediately said, 'what naughty boys and girls making big bangs'.
I am left wondering how long it will be before they get so bored they vandalise the park or worse.
