SALTASH based Duchy Football League side St Stephens Borough recently held their presentation evening at the Ploughboy Inn, Saltash.

This was a well attended evening and the Club were delighted to welcome as their guests Brian Conyon, Cornwall County FA Div Rep, Mike Murray, Duchy League Referees Appointments Officer, Jim Wakem, Secretary Bedford Cup Competition, plus local referees Kevin Lacey and Colin Penhorwood.

Trophy winners were: Player of the Year: Tim Lyle; Managers Player of the Year: Kevin Squires; Clubman of the Year: Dave McAuley.

All three awards were well deserved and were presented to the players by Brian Conyon.

Club sponsor Sheila Boyd, landlady of the Brunel and Ploughboy Inns, presented individual medals to all the players in recognition of the commitment they had shown to the Club throughout the season.

New Club Chairman Bob Frost presented Tim Lyle with the Bill Goat Gruff Award in recognition of his attempts to grow a beard during the season and also presented a trophy to Club Secretary Julian Chenery for his efforts on behalf of the club.

The Club has another trophy for outstanding contribution to present to goalkeeper Simon Robbins who has to travel several hundred miles in order to play for the club but unfortunately he was unable to attend the presentation evening.

Bouquets of flowers were also presented to Sheila Boyd and to Amanda Arrowsmith who washed the kit, as a thank you for their efforts on behalf of the club.

Borough are delighted that the Brunel Inn will remain as the Club's sponsor for the 2000/1 season.

Kart Arrowsmith has confirmed that he will remain as team manager where he did such a fine job last season, together with Shaun Omelia, who will return to the playing ranks next season. Karl has a new assistant in Kevin Squires and the Club are delighted to have such committed people as their management team.

Like all clubs Borough are looking for players for the 2000/1 season and anyone interested in playing for them is asked to ring Karl on 01752 340721 or Julian Chenery on 07932 763596. Any new recruits can be assured of a friendly welcome.
