A PACKED week of summer fun is set to take off in Lostwithiel as the town stages seven days of carnival capers.
It all kicks off on Sunday July 22 with a charity fayre day. This event will include visits from Cornwall Search and Rescue and the Cornwall Air Ambulance, who will be staging a ‘land on’ at the King George V Playing Field.
The week will continue with fun family sports, a fancy dress pram race, a street party day with children’s entertainment and live music, band and choir performances, and the grand carnival procession on Saturday July 28.
With something happening each and every day of carnival week, here is a full guide to the events being organised by Lostwithiel Rotary Club:
Sunday July 22 12 noon onwards, King George V Playing Field: Saniflo Charity Fayre Day
It’s a Knock-out, kid’s games, junior raft race, Cornish wrestling, and a visit from etc Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Stands including the Cornwall Blood Bikes, Museum, and Cornwall Search and Rescue
Monday July 23 5.30pm King George V Playing Field: The Carpet Gallery Rounders Tournament organised by Lostwithiel School Association for teams of 10 players
Tuesday July 24 King George V Playing Field: The Best Western Fowey Valley Six-a-side cricket competition organised by Boconnoc Cricket Club.
Wednesday July 25 6pm Parade Square: The Country Fryer Pram Races
Races for Under 12, Under 18 and adults. Prizes for first and second place in each race plus best fancy dress.
Wednesday July 25 8pm St Bartholomew’s Church: Band and Choir Concert with the Lostwithiel Town Band and Wadebridge Male Voice Choir
Thursday July 26 Street Party Night, sponsored by The Kings Arms
Chloe the Clown and Jules the Comedy Ventriloquist, Duck Race, live music by Monkey Fag Break on the Parade Stage, bouncy castle, face painting, barbecue, hog roast, milk shakes and raft races.
Friday July 27 from 4.15pm: The Phil Smith Memorial Five-a-side football competition sponsored by The Barbershop.
Youth matches start at 4.15 and adult matches at 5.30pm.
Saturday July 28 6pm King George V Playing Field: The Kings Arms Lostwithiel Carnival
Themed fancy dress classes include Films, Brexit, News, Soaps and Motorised vehicles
Live music from Idle Hands on Parade Stage
Fireworks 10.15pm
