A prominent Liskeard restaurant has been forced to close due to 'a lack of business'. Webbs Inn and Restaurant shut its doors on Tuesday, February 23, following a decision to close by owners, Alex and Jenny Yabsley.

Mr Yabsley said: 'There's just a lack of business.

'Unfortunately the recession came at the wrong time after we purchased. Everyone has said the restaurant is just what Liskeard needs but if it doesn't get used you lose it and that's what's happened.'

Mr Yabsley, who has owned the lease on the premises with his wife Jenny for 18 months, said trade has been difficult from the start.

'We've had our ups and downs, but there's only so long you can hold on and wait for it to get better,' he said. My daughter Nikki ran it and now unfortunately she's unemployed. She only got married a month ago, and her husband worked there too so they're both looking for a job.'
