I refer to the letter printed in last week's Cornish Times. Indeed I am dismayed that some people carelessly dispose of litter and leave dog mess in public areas around the town.

Unfortunately this is often a sad reflection of the irresponsibility of a small number of people.

This exactly reinforces the point I stressed in my letter printed in the Cornish Times on January 21. I believe that we should ALL exercise civic responsibility in ensuring that we dispose of our litter properly and clear up after our animals.

Unfortunately the author of the letter refers to particular areas of Liskeard which are not in my own ward. I have passed these concerns onto his/her ward representatives, Liberal Democrat Councillors Powell and Arundell. Lake Lane and Passmore Close come under Liskeard North ward, whereas Jean Rees and myself represent Liskeard south.

Liskeard South has experienced some similar problems, which residents have contacted me about and over which action has been taken. I am always happy to investigate such matters in my ward and those concerned can contact me on 01579 347684.
