Family, friends and colleagues of a Looe soldier killed in Afghanistan paid their respects as his name was unveiled on the war memorial of his home town a year on from his death. Acting Lance Corporal Paul (Uppers) Upton, 31, was one of three Westcountry-based servicemen to die in Southern Afghanistan on Thursday, February 25, 2009. Speaking to the Cornish Times at the ceremony in Looe, his mum Tina said: 'The amount of people that have turned out today is so humbling. The boys here were with Paul serving in Afghanistan. The people of Looe have been rocks for us in the past year. We are so honoured that the town remembers him.'
