A TEAM of young Cornish windsurfers has finished a highly-creditable fourth place at the tenth anniversary regatta of the Royal Yachting Association's Team 15 Championships, the finals of which were hosted at Pitsford Reservoir, near Northampton.

The youngsters were representing Siblyback Lake, on the edge of Bodmin Moor above Liskeard, where Great Britain's first Olympic windsurfer, Penny Way, learned to boardsail.

Coached by Louis Morris and Simon Turner, the chief instructor at Siblyback, the nine-strong team, known as the Water Warriors, had qualified for the showdown after winning the South West regional competition.

But up against 95 other windsurfers from across Great Britain, many of them older and much more experienced, might have proved a daunting prospect.

As expected, the standard of sailing was extremely high but Siblyback did not disappoint.

Top display came from 14-year-old Jacob Henning, who opened with a second in the 5.8s class and followed up with four 'bullets' (firsts) to take the division's overall top prize.
