A WARNING has been issued about the danger posed by certain beauty products that may be given as Christmas presents in Cornwall.
The county’s trading standards team says that a number of products have recently been recalled because of potential problems.
A spokesperson said: ‘Cornwall Trading Standards would like to make residents aware of recent recalls on the Beanfly nail lamp WS-3055, Sentik UV nail dryer 97634, Proxima Direct UV nail lamp J0202, Amazing shine nail gel curing lamp (9 and 12 watt) and JMF Dermapen HJ120100.
‘If you think you may be using these products, please stop and return them to where they were purchased.
‘Beauty equipment makes a popular gift at this time of year and some items are manufactured and bought from outside the EU.
‘Products without a genuine CE label are not safety compliant and can lead to electric shocks, exposure to unsafe UV levels or overheating, causing products to catch fire.
‘Consumers providing treatments, even to friends and family in their home, have a legal obligation to abide by the relevant laws and regulations.’
