In Torpoint, various organisations succeeded in raising more than £1,300 for the Poppy Appeal. The money was raised through a street collection and a concert held at St James' Church. The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal organiser, John Tivnan, said: 'This really has got our local appeal off to a flying start and just goes to show the true spirit of local people and groups to this very worthwhile cause. 'The local army cadet force has come up trumps yet again carrying out the collection mainly on the ferries.' Additional support was given by the Torpoint and Rame Peninsula Lions' Club and Torpoint's Eddystone Rotary Club in the form of street collectors.
