One woman and her dog who have spent the month of June ‘walking all over cancer’ have raised more than £1,000 for research.

Claire Stevens is on target to have walked 10,000 steps each day and her Lakeland Terrier Ethel has been with her every step of the way.

The pair have walked along the coast and in the countryside of South East Cornwall as well as travelling further afield to the Minack Theatre in the west of the county and even the Glastonbury Festival.

Keen photographer Claire has documented her month-long campaign on her walkswithethel Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

‘My husband is currently undergoing treatment for cancer so on behalf of him, and for everyone’s loved ones, friends and family, I’ve been taking part in Cancer Research UK’s “Walk All Over Cancer” this June,’ said Claire.

‘Spotting cancer early improves the chances of successful treatment, so it’s vital to ensure that more people are diagnosed at an earlier stage.’

‘Walkswithethel’ began when Ethel, a rescue dog, arrived in the Stevens’ South East Cornwall home in 2014. To find out more about Walk All Over Cancer and to support Claire’s campaign search online for ‘Claire and Ethel fundraising’.
