LISKEARD’S Walkers are Welcome group has been celebrating 10 years of the national scheme.

Over the last decade, a network of 111 Walkers are Welcome towns in Britain has helped to develop 1,200 walks totalling more than 6,300 miles.

The scheme has also helped raise money for each of the participating towns’ local economies by boosting footfall, say organisers.

In Liskeard, a Walkers are Welcome scheme was established in 2011. The group is active and encourages local people as well as visitors to join members on its regular outings.
