HUNDREDS of people took the rare opportunity to walk from Hannafore to Looe Island on Easter Sunday.
For the second time this year, an equinox spring tide went out far enough to allow people to travel to the island on foot.
The walk and wade commenced in knee-deep water across the one mile gulley at 1.15pm with only about 20 minutes to spare on the island before it was time for the walk back to avoid a quickly-rising tide.
Some folk even managed to find some tasty scallops for their tea!
Looe (St George's) Island is a Cornwall Wildlife Trust nature reserve. Walk with the Warden events are scheduled fortnightly on Saturdays from April 21 to September 28, with transport provided by The Islander boat. For information call the trust's head office on 01872 273939.
