SALTASH Town Council's civic amenities committee meeting last Wednesday, March 2, discussed the proposed bus shelter in North Road. Councillor Joe Ellison said that the planning application had gone in and he hoped it would soon end the long saga of waiting. Mayor Sue Hooper spoke about the work that had started on a sensory garden in North Road but several issues had to be addressed with the highways authority. Councillor Joe Ellison put forward a design for a bus shelter on the down side of North Road where the old school pillars could be made into a bus shelter. The planters in Fore Street came under discussion and the mayor said that the Duke of Edinburgh Award leaders had kept the top planter in Fore Street tidy for more than a decade, but it was with regret they could no longer continue with this task.
