MORE than 50 people helped the team at a favourite beauty spot spring into action.

They joined in at South West Lakes’ ‘Spring into Action’ event on Monday (February 12) and helped the Siblyback team plant a mosaic of beautiful spring bulbs and plants.

The event, sponsored by Naturescape, was organised by Siblyback’s Countryside and Activities Teams and, in less than a few weeks, should produce a burst of colour around the reception area which will not only look good but also be great for early insects.

Children, mums, dads and grandparents all helped plant more than 1,100 bulbs.

Senior warden Nigel Tomkinson said: ‘It was great to see such enthusiasm to get the job done, especially as it was a really chilly day. Thank you to everyone that lent a hand, without you we would never have got the area planted up in time for spring’.

As a break from the cold, visitors could nip indoors and make a seed mix for a log bird feeder to take home. This proved very successful with the team having to cut and drill more timber as the event went on.
