THE newly elected chairman of a Callington Community centre is appealing for more volunteers to come forward and help it get up and running. Patricia Jago, chairman of the Coronation Close community centre, said she was elected, only to find that the centre is nearly 'running on empty'. She said: 'What are really needed are new members to build up the centre. 'This is a nice place with some good ideas but we need some help in getting it up and running, not just things for OAPs, but there is a great potential here for all ages.' She added that activities already underway include whist drives, coffee mornings, cream teas and bingo, but the centre is open to helpful suggestions and would appreciate some sensible ideas. The centre will be open on Thursday, December 16 from 10am with refreshments available.
