A vicar is asking villagers how the local church building could be made a more flexible space.
At St Cleer Church, where the Reverend Rebecca Bell was made priest-in-charge last year, the Parochial Church Council would like to build an extension to create a kitchen, toilet and office space. Also up for discussion is a review of the seating arrangements.
Residents of the village are being asked if they like the idea of removing the pews completely – or partially – to create a more adaptable space.
Questionnaires have been sent out along with the neighbourhood plan survey, asking the community for their feedback on what, if any, improvements are necessary at the church.
The heating system is also one of the aspects needing an upgrade, says the PCC; the system is ‘inefficient, expensive, and won’t last much longer’ say members.
