A veterans group celebrated their first birthday in a new home.
Saltash Mayor Jean Dent and her husband and consort Bill joined in the first birthday celebrations of one of the Mayor’s charities - The Veterans Group of Dementia Voice PL12 in their new home The Shado Centre.
During the last 12 months the Dementia Vets has increased in popularity, outgrowing their former meeting place of 4 Fore Street due to the efforts of Carol and Ken Emmett and her team of volunteers.
The Mayor gave a short, but poignant speech and was invited to cut the birthday cake with former Wren Joan Russell. She was then presented with a flower posy by another former Wren, Sheila King.
The Dementia Veterans Group meets alternate Saturdays from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at the Shado Centre and welcomes visitors.
