VE Day celebrations, which were due to take place in May have been postponed in Liskeard, Saltash and Bodmin.

Liskeard’s Mayor, Rachel Brooks said: ’It is with great sadness that we have had to postpone the public events planned to commemorate VE Day 75 in May. We hope to commemorate VE 75 on the anniversary of VJ 75 in August, but will review nearer the time.’

Bodmin Town Council said: ’We are awaiting further information as to whether there will be a new national date on which this important occasion can be celebrated. BTC would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who has given their valuable time and effort in the planning of what was shaping up to be a fantastic day. We are confident that, when we are able to celebrate, the plans that have been put in place thus far will result in a wonderful and memorable event for the town.’

Saltash Town Council said its celebrations were postponed and it is monitoring the situation.
