A CORN snake named Kellogs, a tortoise named Shelley and a giant  cockroach are not the usual occupants of a Saltash care home but they  took up temporary residency at Anchor’s St Anne’s.

The animals joined a Tiger snail and other exotic creatures when they visited the care home in Plougastel Drive.

Resident Audrey said she was excited about the visit: ’I’m looking forward to holding a corn snake for the first time in my life. I think it will be interesting seeing all the different animals.’

Care home manager Neil McCalley said the Dartmoor Zoo visit was part of St Anne’s ongoing programme of interesting activities which aim to stimulate the residents physically and mentally.

Mr McCalley and the residents of St Anne’s would like to thank Phoebe for bringing the animals in and for all the useful information she provided during their visit: ’We wanted to organise something different for our  residents. Such events are a great occasion for them to socialise with  friends and their families and to try out new things.’
