A CLUB dedicated to unicycling has been donated £2,500, and will use it to spend on raising their profile and recruiting more young people. The Calstock Unicycle club, which meets at the Calstock village Hall, Calstock, near Callington, was awarded the money by the Our Money, Your Dream grant scheme, put together by Cornwall County Council. The structure of the scheme comprises six youth opportunity fund panels – one for each district area – each of which has 16 members. As a result of the awarded grant, the club plans to run outreach workshops, starting at Harrow Barrow and Gunnislake schools, funding experts to demonstrate their skills and also to run extra sessions at Callington sports hall. The money will also go towards launching a new website, a new poster campaign to recruit more young people and new unicycles and helmets. Ali Oops, the club coordinator, said: 'Any child who can ride a bike has the coordination to learn to ride a unicycle but they also need determination. 'Our current membership ranges from age six to 40-something.'
