A GROUP of 100 lots went under the hammer at an auction to raise money for international table tennis player David Wetherill. Organised by library staff and David's band of fundraisers, the lots were auctioned by Lee Pritchard, auctioneer with Shobrook Ltd of Plymouth. The first lot was Britain and the Sea, a Royal Navy book donated by Commodore John Keegan of HMS Raleigh, with a personally signed letter for the recipient of the book. Bidding was brisk and it sold for £28. The auction went on to raise £674.20 to help table tennis star David's ambition to reach the Beijing Paralympics in 2008. The fundraisers have now raised almost £8,000 and continue their hard work in supporting David's ambition.
