Television couple Richard and Judy have become patrons of a Looe charity.
The TV show hosts, who have a home near Looe, are supporting Ellie's Haven, which aims to build a holiday haven for children with life- limiting illnesses.
On Wednesday Richard Madeley visited Ellie in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, to become an official patron of the charity, along with his wife Judy, and vowed the charities aims 'will happen'.
Richard and Judy's interest in the charity started when Julie Libby, Ellie's mum, dropped a letter to their home around 18 months ago.
'Richard turned up unexpectedly and we just talked and we then asked them if they would be patrons,' said Julie.
'They believe in what we are doing.'
'The irony is they won't use the place when it is built,' said Richard.
'I remember going home and telling Judy we would be patrons of the charity because this was someone who was going to get it done.
'Julie was so calm and across it.'
Ellie's dad, Nigel Libby, said: 'I think having Richard and Judy as patrons can only help us and it shows we are serious in what we need to do.
'We cannot thank them enough.'
The charity, which has raised more than £120,000, aims to build the haven on the outskirts of Looe, and has already had land donated.
'We had seen other similar charities in other parts of the country working, but there is not one like this in the South West and it is really needed,' said Richard.
'It is indescribable the lift it gives the families and it is clear by the amount they have raised that it is going to happen. We are in a credit crunch and they are still raising money.'
Ellie's Haven will provide families with children with life- limiting illnesses a chance to have a break away from home, and, unlike a hospice, will be a place where families can have a holiday with their children.
Richard spent time talking with Julie and Nigel and assured them he and Judy would visit them again when Ellie was back home.
'At the end of the day, they are normal people,' said Nigel.
Judy had hoped to be joining Richard but was at home in bed because of a bug.
