THE beach at East Looe was packed as spectators cheered on teams in a charity tug- of-war.
The sun shone on the six local teams as they grunted and groaned their way to raising around £270 for the RNLI and the Fishermen's Mission – with the Training Zone team the overall winners.
'Most of the teams did not stand a chance against the Training Zone, although the RNLI gave them a run for their money,' said organiser Michelle Sadler.
Cornwall councillor Edwina Hannaford and harbourmaster Jeff Penhaligon were on hand to make sure there was no foul play.
'It was great fun, everybody came together.
'We wouldn't be able to do it without the East Looe Town Trust, and the town council helped as well,' Michelle added.
Michelle said four teams had already signed up for next year's event which she hopes will also include other beach games.
