A FIVE-YEAR-OLD from Liskeard, who has been suffering from a life-threatening form of cancer, has had her dearest wish granted by the Starlight Children's Foundation.
Little Erin Lewsey was taken to Disneyland Paris by the UK's leading wish-granting charity for children, accompanied by her mum and dad, Esther and Jonathan, and her seven-year-old sister Megan.
Erin was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumour last year, a form of kidney cancer, and she has since undergone treatment including two courses of chemotherapy, which has meant the loss of her hair, and the removal of one of her kidneys.
One of the CLIC Sargent nurses at Derriford Hospital referred Erin to Starlight for a once-in-a-lifetime wish and, as she loves the Disney princesses, especially Belle, it was no surprise to her family that she chose Disneyland.
'Like all little five-year-old girls, Erin loves all things princess, fairy and mermaid,' said Esther.
'She loves dressing up and, together with her sister, has a box full of dressing up clothes.'
During the trip the family enjoyed all the excitement of the park, and Erin and Megan met lots of their favourite Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse and the princesses.
Esther said: 'So much thought had been put into the trip and every detail was simply magical for the girls. They will remember it for the rest of their lives.
'We can't thank Starlight enough for showing our children that dreams can come true.'
