AN inspirational teenager from Callington, who has already raised a lot of money to enable some extremely poor children in Northern India attend school through two charity walks, is on the road again. This time, 15-year-old Jonny Burnard, a recipient of 'The Diana Award' and a certificate from Prime Minister David Cameron for his charity work over the last five years, is walking 110 miles to Land's End to raise money for another children's charity, Little Harbour, Children's Hospice South West. Jonny's 'Walk With Pride' which he began organising last year, is being supported by Lions Club members throughout Cornwall, and among those walking with him are his dad Andy Burnard, current president of Callington Lions, and his grandfather, Terry Burnard, also a Lion. With the three generations of Burnards leading, the Walk With Pride set out on Sunday morning. Sheryll Murray MP and a crowd of well-wishers, cheered and clapped them off. Mrs Murray, who is the current president of the Palace of Westminster Lions, said: 'I congratulate Jonny and his family on the fantastic efforts they have undertaken. I know that Little Harbour will make fantastic use of this money in the care of those who need it.' Hoping to accompany them all the way is 67-year-old Saltash Lion Barry Willcocks. The first leg went well, ending in Liskeard, where the local Lions gave a donation of £500. Next morning they set off again, with Liskeard Lion Allan Mawby accompanying them as far as Bodmin, and fellow Lion Garfield Cole as far as St Neot. At Bodmin the intrepid trio were expected to be met by up to 14 Lions to walk with them to Roche. The walk is expected to raise thousands for Little Harbour. Already £3,000 has been pledged, and with a Co-op Callington collection, and Bulls Head Party Night on Saturday last together with bucket collections from Lions Clubs en route, a large sum of money is ensured.
