Torpoint mayor and mayoress Eddie and Bev Andrews held a civic reception for local service personnel who have served in Afghanistan. Councillors, leaders and representatives of local organisations and community groups also attended.
The mayor welcomed everyone and gave a special tribute to all the service personnel who were fighting for our security. He also thanked those present for the work they had done in the community over the last 12 months.
A buffet was provided and there was an opportunity to speak with the Torpoint servicemen and their families – 42 Commando Corporal Leigh Godwin who is due to leave for his third tour of Afghanistan, 40 Commando Lance Corporal Ali Sprague who has returned from his second tour and 40 Commando Marines Dean Hance and Rob Andrews who have just returned from their first tour.
