A READING room celebrating Cornish women will be launched tomorrow, Tuesday March 8, International Women’s Day. The Cornwall-based charity, the Hypatia Trust, will officially open the Elizabeth Treffry Reading Room on Tuesday at the Krowji centre in Redruth. Named after Dame Elizabeth Treffry, who according to legend heroically helped to defend Fowey in medieval times, the room will become the new home to a collection of more than 3,000 books and artefacts by and about women in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The reading room will be accessible to all by appointment after the launch.
