THE new outdoor market initiative for Looe which will be up and running by the main tourist season will be having a trial run over the four days of the Easter bank holiday weekend.

East Looe Town Trust is aiming to give a lift to the town centre by organising market stalls in the Rose Garden and Wishing Well open spaces beside the Guildhall.

Traders and organisations wishing to set up stalls have the opportunity to help the season get off to a colourful start.

Town trustee cllr Brian Galipeau said: 'Rest assured that we'll be keeping the public seating and the bank holiday traders will not be jumping the gun on those who have already expressed an interest in long-term rental of Rose Garden pitches.

'I hope that local business and residents will be the first to apply for a pitch from the trust office.  They will be let at a very reasonable daily rate and could be a table-top or traditional stall. There will be no sales from vehicles or road trailers and the trust will encourage local produce and products.'
