A BUSY supermarket had to be evacuated after toxic fumes threatened shoppers and staff – for the second time in 12 months. Hundreds of shoppers moved out of Liskeard's Morrisons store on Wednesday evening after a refrigerator hose ruptured. Leaking gas and oil mixed to form a cloud of smoke. Robert Collins, Liskeard fire brigade's station officer who attended the incident, said it was 'very rare' for something like this to happen however it is the second time in a year that Morrisons in Liskeard has had to be evacuated for this reason. Customers and staff gathered in the car park after fire engines, including two from Bodmin's hazardous chemicals unit, were called at around 6.30pm. A spokesperson for Morrisons said: 'There was an issue in our warehouse. Engineers entered the building and carried out repairs to ensure the problem was fixed.'
