The first of the Christmas lights that will sparkle over the centre of Liskeard were put up by volunteer members of the Chamber of Commerce and their friends on Sunday. They were will be working hard to complete the task on the remaining Sundays in November before the official switch-on takes place on Thursday, December 2 at 6pm. Once again 170 shops, pubs, restaurants and businesses have been approached to see if they want to give financial support to the enterprise. Usually this results in 70 or 80 illuminated Christmas trees shining around the town centre, besides the main cross-street displays which must be at least 19 feet above ground level.
