WITH Christmas just around the corner the town is gearing up for a number of festive events. Tomorrow (Saturday), December 4, Looe primary school will be holding their Christmas Fair, organised by the 'Friends' of the school, which runs from 10am-1pm. Santa will be in his grotto and all funds are for the school. On Sunday, December 5, Barbican Pre School are inviting the U10s to a Christmas disco in the Admiral Boscarn on the seafront. Bop from 2-4pm and wear festive fancy dress if you wish. This is a fundraiser for pre school funds. AN 'Oldies Disco' is being held at Looe Community School, organised by the 'Friends', on Saturday, December 11, at 7.30pm for school funds. Popular local DJ Steve Tarpey will be playing music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. There is a bar and refreshments and deputy head Tom Saddler says the event is for adults only. 'All are welcome to come and dance away the evening to the tunes 'us oldies', all remember', he says. Also at the Community School, on Monday, December 20, will be the popular annual Christmas Musical Evening which is open to all residents. This will feature the school band, festive singing, dance and poetry, with mince pies for refreshments. The school would particularly like to hear from any senior citizens in the town's care homes who would like to attend. Please call Mrs Julie Shepherd at the school on 01503 262625.
