The Liskeard Town Forum, which meets every six weeks to discuss topics affecting the town and to promote regeneration, has come up with proposals to manage its finances.

The end-of-year budget of £15,975.10 includes two separate sums that have to be spent on specific projects.

They are £1,115 donated by the Department for Communities and Local Government for improvements to The Pipewell in Well Lane, and £500 donated by Persimmon Homes to fund the provision of sports facilities in the Addington area for junior-aged young people.

The forum has proposed that the remaining total should be allocated as £1,000 each year for administration for five years, equating to £5,000; that grants up to a maximum of £300 should continue to be awarded to voluntary groups, with a budget of £1,200 each year for a five-year period, totalling £6,000; and that the sum of £3,000 should be ring-fenced to support regeneration projects in the town.

The remaining balance of £360.10 is to be held as a contingency reserve.
