The annual meeting of Saltash Town Council was held recently at Saltash Guildhall, with mayor Bob Austin presiding. The police report was given by PC Simon Fletcher, who said there had been 94 crimes compared to 85 last year. There were 11 thefts from motor vehicles and 15 cases of damage to motor vehicles, but there were no burglaries to homes, compared to four in the same period last year. Simon Newport, of First National, spoke about the changes on the bus routes around Saltash after a year-long exercise reviewing the services. Changes will take place from Sunday, April 6. During planning applications, the council recommended refusal to Dowderry Construction to redevelop the landfill site at Carkeel and create a sports pitches, mainly due to traffic problems and no crossing for pedestrians.
