Saltash town band took second place in their section at the Cornish Brass Band Association competition held at Truro's Hall for Cornwall on March 2.

A keenly fought competition resulted in just one point between first and second place, the former going to St Dennis. The band played their own choice piece, 'Schehe-razade', under the musical direction of Dave Dobson, and was judged to have produced a well balanced and rounded sound.

The band's next challenge is the South West England area competition, on March 24, at Colston Hall in Bristol.
