All-day breakfasts raise

funds for cancer research

TWO all-day breakfast events in Torpoint have raised around £340 for Cancer Research UK.

Queues built up at the town's library when staff there served breakfasts.

"The event was brilliant, really successful," said library manager Kate Wilton.

"The library was packed for the first hour. We sold around 80 bacon rolls and also provided croissants and jam, cereals, coffee and fruit juices. We raised around £120."

The library was decorated with daffodils from Antony Farms Estate for the event which fell on St David's Day.

The second all-day breakfast event was hosted by a group of Cancer Research UK supporters in Torpoint at Cornerstone Church in Fore Street.

A steady flow of people were served breakfasts until lunchtime and the event raised £221 for the charity which has been created by the merger of the Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund.

Social group

annual meeting

The annual general meeting of the Torpoint Retired Civil Servants Social Group is to be held at St James Church Hall on April 2 at 2pm.

The committee would appreciate a good attendance because there are several important changes to put to the members.

The committee wants to hear members' comments about the proposals before they are implemented.

Tea and biscuits will be provided free as usual.

Lost property

A LOST property display is being held in the main hall at Torpoint School next week. Parents and pupils can look through the items on March 20-22.

Any items not claimed will be donated to the Salvation Army.
