Other subjects being covered by the new courses which are starting this month include computers, art, food safety, stained glass, GCSE Maths, reflexology, complementary therapies, French, counselling and RYA Dayskipper.

The first one-day workshop will be on the Chinese practice of Feng Shui and will run at the school from 10am on Saturday, September 29. Other workshops will cover life painting, hair/make-up/fashion, papier mache and mosiacs.

A New Horizons activity group is also due to start in the town, under the auspices of Saltash College.

The group, for men and women, will meet in the council chambers on Thursday mornings from October 11.

A similar group runs in Saltash and members devise a varied programme of activities taking in talks, chat, games, quizzes, demonstrations and trips.

Adult education courses are also being held in local villages including Millbrook, Portwrinkle and Sheviock.
