Offers of help on ramps
for skateboard park
NEW ramps could be added to the skateboard facilities at Thanckes Park in Torpoint. Skateboarders have requested that additional ramps are put in place at the skateboard park which opened last year.
The request has been made to the town council which has responded by suggesting that the skateboarders form themselves into a group to raise funds towards new ramps.
Deputy mayor Diane Curran and Councillor Alan Brimacombe, who is secretary of the Torpoint Community Development Trust, have offered to help the skateboarders try to obtain grants.
Councillors stressed that health and safety issues must be taken into account over any new ramps and that RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) should be fully involved in any expansion of the present facilities. The skateboard park is part of a multi-games area which cost around £37,500 to create.
