Mayor's Christmas

Message

THE Mayor of Torpoint, Stan Martin, through the Cornish Times, is sending a Christmas message to the people of the town.

He says: "Once again it is the Yuletide season when we will be celebrating an event which took place over 2,000 years ago in a lowly stable in Bethlehem when Mary gave birth to baby Jesus.

"Most of us will be celebrating this wonderful happening with our families and friends, giving gifts just as the Three Wise Men did all those years ago.

"Let us not cast from our minds that we should be celebrating in the true Christian spirit, disregarding the fallacy that 'Christmas is Woolworths' - that is far from the truth.

"May I, on behalf of Christine and myself, wish you and all your families a very happy, healthy and blessed Christmas."
