Santa on his way to Torpoint
In his illuminated sleigh and accompanied by his loyal band of elves, Santa Claus will be coming to your street in the Torpoint area one evening before Christmas. When you hear the sound of carols coming nearer, bring the children out to meet the old gentleman himself for a merry word and a dip in the sweety bag.
Santa's visits are arranged by the Lions Club and any contributions to the Lions Charity Chest will be most welcome and will go to local charities. No administration costs will be deducted.

Monty the church mouse
Torpoint's Parish Church has a mouse - but there's no chance of it scaring the congregation!
St James Church, which is planning to upgrade its premises through its Vision 21 appeal, is using Monty the Church Mouse, an enamel badge, to raise funds. Parishioners are being invited to wear the badge, costing £1, to show their support for the church.
Moment in time for photographers
Amateur photographers in Torpoint are being invited to capture a moment in history.
The town's library is holding a photographic competition to mark the Millennium with a digital camera as the main prize.
Lynne Kershaw, the stock officer for the library, is organising the contest.
She said: "The photographs have to be taken on films available from the library.
"People can enter free by taking a 36-film. The Photo 2000 competition is sponsored by Top Foto at Liskeard and Life Style Pharmacy in Torpoint."
The competition has five categories.
Millennium Moments is for pictures of the celebrations around New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The library is hoping this category will produce many memorable pictures from the celebrations in Torpoint.
Focal points in the town are of the subject of category two, while local sports activities from football to bowls to squash can be pictured for category three.
The fourth category is entitled On The River and can include wildlife, boats, the Torpoint Ferries and sunset across the water.
And the final category is... Silly Snaps, any fun pictures taken this month or before the competition closes at the end of January.
"It is the first time we have run such a competition," said Lynne.
"There will be a display in the library of the entries as they come in. The judging will be carried out by Top Foto's managing director, Chris Childs.
"Each category winner will receive a disposable camera. The overall winner will win an Agfa (e-photo 780C) digital camera worth £160."
Some of the photographs from the competition may be added to the town's archives.
